I am Jané Lord, a former high school teacher and now a dedicated youth worker and counsellor. Over the past decade, I have developed a deep passion for working with teenagers—especially those who struggle with concentration, focus, and confidence in the classroom.
After five years in the classroom, I stepped into full-time youth work and counselling, partnering with my church and Masithethe. This allows me to support learners both emotionally and intellectually.
I am passionate about learners struggling with concentration or diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I understand how overwhelming it can be for a child who simply cannot concentrate in a traditional classroom environment. These learners are often misunderstood and labelled, when they just need the right tools and support.
This is not only professional for me—it is personal.
I have lived with ADHD and faced significant concentration challenges throughout my own schooling. An educational psychologist once indicated that I would likely only just pass matric. However, through the right support, strategies, and perseverance, I exceeded those expectations—achieving cum laude in my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
This journey shaped my deep conviction: a diagnosis should never define or limit a child.
A psychologist’s report, teacher’s observation or remedial diagnosis should guide support—not place a ceiling on potential. With the right intervention, structure, and encouragement, your child can learn to manage their concentration, overcome academic barriers, and truly excel.
Each brain is uniquely wired. When a child understands how they learn—and is equipped with practical, personalised strategies—they move from frustration to confidence.
I am passionate about walking this journey with learners and their families. Through workshops and one-on-one support, I help children build focus, resilience, and belief in their own ability.
Because it is not about limitation—it is about unlocking potential. A true mind over matter journey.
